One Day, Travelers May Be Screened for Anxiety

If a test project underway from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security proves successful, anxious travelers of the future could face secondary screenings at airport security checkpoints. As USA Today reports, the department is researching, developing and testing machines designed to scan people for irregularities in their breathing, body temperature and pulse - all things that might help distinguish potential terrorists from the average, law-abiding traveler.

No need to start popping valium just yet, as the practical use of these machines is years off. But the project does conjur up images of arriving late to the airport, panicked about missing a flight, only to end up sidelined for questioning at the security gate.
